THE Shrunken Head (and tail) center of the world!

Delaware

Our SMALL Change Collection

  • As seen in the November 25, 2002 Issue of Coin World and the Spring 2003 issue of MintErrorNews!
  • Quarter Shrinking will also be featured in the upcoming October, 2003 issue of Popular Science magazine
  • These are REAL Coins! Shrunken coins are unique, and they are ONLY available here
  • FREE explanation about how the coin shrinking process works
  • FREE reprint of the Spring 2003 MintErrorNews article on coin shrinking
  • The equipment that shrinks these coins is called, appropriately enough, a "Quarter Shrinker"
  • Each coin requires its own custom hand wound coil which violently explodes during the shrinking process
  • Dealer inquiries are welcomed - contact us for quantity prices or "custom shrinking" needs

"Custom Shrinking" is also Available!

Although I usually shrink quarters to 70-75% of their original diameter (slightly smaller than a US Dime), I can easily adjust the degree of shrinkage upon request. I can also "custom shrink" other coins. For example, collectors have sent me Silver Eagles, Churchill Crowns, Asian coins, bimetal coins, tokens, and even gold bullion coins to "shrink to order".

Please contact us me to discuss YOUR custom shrinking needs!

NOTES:
1: Pennies minted after 1982 are copper plated zinc  - they don't survive the shrinking process.
2:  Steel pennies don't work either. Best results are with bronze pennies (1910-1942) or Indian Head pennies (they look great!).
3: Copper-nickel alloy coins (nickels) don't shrink as well as clad coins - diameter will be ~90% of the original coin
4: Prices for custom shrinking customer supplied coins will be provided upon request
5: Proof coins really don't shrink well. They actually turn out quite ugly! Circulating coins are recommended.
6: The relatively higher surface features of this coin create force imbalances during the shrinking process. This causes Kennedy's bust to have a concave indentation of his left ear and matching convex projection of the shield on the reverse side. This is an inherent  property of the coin itself and is unavoidable.

Ordering Instructions:
1. Select coins from the Coins Available section above. Use your web browser's "back" button to return here.

2. Use the Shrunken Head Price List to find the cost for your coins. Use your Browser's "back" button to return here.

3. If you're ordering state quarters, please specify which state(s) you want, or if you want earlier "eagle" style. If ordering a pendant, please specify if the head or tail of the coin should face outwards.

4.
Once you've made your selections, add up the total for the coins. Illinois residents must add 6.75% for Illinois Retail Sales Tax. Then add  the appropriate amount for insurance (see table below), plus $2.50 S&H. You can  email,  call, or write me to confirm your order. I'll need to know which coin(s) you want, how you plan to pay, your mailing address, and any custom shrinking requests.
I'll get back to you within 24 hours with a quote, and I generally ship within 3-5 days of receipt of payment.

Shipping and Insurance:
I usually ship circulated coins. Uncirculated coins or specific mint selections are available for most clad coins upon request.  Shipping and Handling in the USA is $2.50 per order. Insurance is strongly recommended ($1.30 for first $50.00) - I will not be responsible for coins lost in the mail. While I will ship to most countries, international shipping costs must be figured on a case by case basis, and insurance may not be available to some countries. Use the following table to find the cost for insuring shipments within the USA.
